Pisgah Legal Services and the 28th Judicial District Bar will co-host a Landlord/Tenant Law CLE on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 8:30am to 1:30pm at First Presbyterian Church, 40 Church Street, Asheville. PLS Managing Attorney Robin Merrell and PLS Housing Director Ben Many will provide presentations on various issues related to assisting tenants of rental housing, including evictions, rent abatement, securing repairs, security deposit return, harassment or abuse, tenants breaking a lease, recovery of tenant property, liability related to roommates, and rights of tenants who are victims of domestic violence. Tom Gallagher, PLS staff attorney, will provide a presentation on ethics as it relates to pro bono service and landlord-tenant law.

Participants are eligible for 3 hours of standard CLE credit and 1 hour of ethics CLE credit from the NC Bar. The CLE is free to any attorney who agrees to take two pro bono cases through the Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer Program in 2018 or to serve on the Housing Advice Line or the Pro Bono Hotline. The CLE is $100 for attorneys who do not wish to volunteer. Lunch is provided with $10 charge.
