WLOS Covers PLS Community Forum on Medicaid
On Tuesday, August 15, Pisgah Legal hosted a community forum for area nonprofits and community partners to discuss the many changes to Medicaid in North Carolina.
We were joined by a great panel with representatives from NC Medicaid, MANNA FoodBank, Western North Carolina Community Health Services, Dogwood Health Trust, NC Medicaid Ombudsman and the NC Justice Center. The Honorable Terry Van Duyn provided closing remarks.
The panelists spoke about Medicaid transformation, terminations and the much-anticipated expansion. Although Medicaid expansion is on the horizon, it will not go into effect until an NC budget is passed. Until then, thousands are losing coverage each month as terminations are underway. The panelists spoke about action steps and how to best support our community in this time.
