We are pleased to announce that Matthew Desmond is our 2023 Justice Forum speaker. Desmond last joined Pisgah Legal in front of a sell-out crowd at our 2017 Forum. Desmond, a MacArthur “Genius” and Princeton sociologist, was launched onto the national stage as an expert on contemporary American poverty of his Pulitzer Prize-winning bestseller, Evicted. Desmond’s latest book, Poverty, by America, investigates why the United States, the richest country on earth, has more poverty than any other advanced democracy.
About the Justice Forum
Pisgah Legal’s Justice Forum will be held at the Sherrill Center, Kimmel Arena – UNC Asheville, on Tuesday, October 17th. There will be a ticketed, pre-event reception at 5:30pm followed by the free Justice Forum at 7:00pm. There will be an option for live-streaming for those that prefer to join virtually. Ticket sales and registration will be available in mid-August.
