Endowed Funds

Endowed funds provide a constant source of income over time, which Pisgah Legal Services can depend on for financial support and allow for long term planning. Unlike other gifts, which are expended annually to accomplish our goals, gifts for an endowment are invested and the principal is held in perpetuity. Endowed funds are typically dedicated to particular purposes, consistent with donor desires, such as programmatic support, supporting work in a specific region and endowed positions. Pisgah Legal Services is committed to ensuring that gifts to endowed funds are invested wisely and that annual income is used efficiently and effectively. Endowed funds can be established in your name anonymously or in the name of a loved one whom you wish to honor or memorialize.

Memorial Funds at Pisgah Legal:

The Jones Byrd Memorial Fund for the Justice for All Program

Jones Byrd was a dear friend and long-time champion for justice. When he passed away in 2020, his family created an endowed fund in his name with Pisgah Legal Services to honor Jones’ wishes to provide access to the justice system for the growing immigrant population in WNC. This fund will provide resources to transform the lives of immigrant families through representation, giving individuals voice, and asserting their humanity in the face of growing challenges.”

Cary and Charles Owen Jr. Memorial Fund for Pisgah Legal Services

The children of Cary and Charles Owen Jr. established this memorial fund to honor their parents’ legacy. The family’s generous, perpetual gift will be part of Pisgah Legal’s Endowment and earned income from the fund will provide free, civil legal aid to those who need it most in Western North Carolina.

Donors can contribute to these funds by making a donation to Pisgah Legal’s Endowment and designating the fund they would like to support.
