Join the Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer Program

Join the more than 250 private attorneys who are making a difference in the lives of their neighbors in need of free civil legal aid in WNC.

The MAVL Program asks that participating attorneys agree to accept two client referrals per year, based on North Carolina ethics guidelines.  MAVL members select the types of cases they will accept, and initial interviews are scheduled so that the attorney may review the proposed referral prior to determining if it will be accepted (referrals are first made for assessment and then representation if merited).  All clients referred through MAVL are pre-screened for financial and case-priority eligibility.
