Pisgah Legal Services

We are Pisgah Legal Services and we’re fighting every day to bring justice to the most vulnerable people in Western North Carolina – disadvantaged children, senior citizens, families at risk of homelessness and victims of domestic violence.

PLS provides free civil legal aid to help 12,500 low-income people access justice to meet urgent needs each year. Learn more…

Lindsay and daughter

"Kids pick up on everything," notes Pisgah Legal Services' client Lindsay. "My daughter came to me asking, 'Mommy, where will we go when they take our house?' She was six and she was worrying about these things." Lindsay and her husband, struggling business owners hit hard by the recession, found themselves facing foreclosure. PLS attorney Bill Whalen stopped the foreclosure and secured a loan modification to reduce their interest and make their payments more affordable, so they could stay in their home with their two children.
