PLS Helps Homeless Senior Citizen
"You made a very sad woman very, very happy."
- Tim Rhodes, Junior Warden, St. John's Episcopal Church

When Betsy's home burned down, she was thankful that members of her church volunteered to build her a new house. Progress on the home stopped though, when Betsy's neighbor refused to allow a property easement for her sewer line.
The church tried for months to negotiate on Betsy's behalf. In the meantime, Betsy, a disabled senior citizen, was living in a dilapidated camper with no running water and only a small space heater for warmth through the winter.
Pisgah Legal Services' volunteer attorney Rebecca Reinhardt (of Roberts & Stevens, P.A.) quickly resolved the easement issue so that volunteers could finish Betsy's new house and move her out of the unsafe camper.
