Pisgah Legal Services
Domestic Violence and Child Custody Attorney
Pisgah Legal Services is a community-based, non-profit law firm which provides free, civil legal assistance to low-income people in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, Polk, Rutherford and Transylvania Counties of western North Carolina. These counties are in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are more than 80,000 client-eligible people in these six counties (at or below 125% of the federal poverty level). PLS directly served 15,000 people in 2015 and provides community education and outreach to many other low-income clients.
PLS is seeking a full-time, N.C. licensed attorney to work at the Family Justice Center in Hendersonville and in Buncombe County. Several years of experience in family law would be helpful, as this attorney’s caseload will involve a high percentage of child custody cases.
It is possible that PLS will receive other grant funding for another attorney position to serve part or all of the six-county area. If so, the work will include serving victims of abuse and sexual assault to obtain protective orders, child custody orders, and other relief.
