Attorney Bryant D. Webster is the recipient of the 2015 William L. Thorp Pro Bono Award. This annual award is made to an NC attorney who has provided exemplary legal services without a fee. Webster was presented with the award on June 19th at the North Carolina Bar Association Annual Meeting held at The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville.

Webster practices law at Stone and Christy, P.A. in Black Mountain. He has been volunteering with Pisgah Legal Services’ MAVL (Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyers) Program since 1997. Over the past 17 years, he has provided more than 1,300 hours of pro bono service in 605 cases. In 2014 alone, Webster volunteered 228 hours of his time and expertise.

Pisgah Legal Services Executive Director Jim Barrett said, “Bryant sees the importance of providing legal advice to people in need and is a strong advocate. We cannot thank him enough for his commitment to helping our clients.”

In response to receiving the award, Webster humbly said, “The real credit goes to Pisgah Legal Services and MAVL for creating an effective and efficient way for volunteers to do this critical work. Credit goes to all my colleagues at Stone & Christy for doing and supporting this work.”
