Awards & Honors
Pisgah Legal Services’ outstanding record has been recognized by numerous awards, including:
N.C. Nonprofit Sector Stewardship Award: PLS received this statewide award in 2002 from the N.C. Center for Nonprofits in recognition of its stewardship of resources, direct services and advocacy, and exemplary record of collaboration.
T. Kennon Roberson Award for Management Excellence in Non-Profit Health and Human Services: PLS Director James Barrett received this award in 2007 in recognition of his leadership.
Community Foundation of Western North Carolina Chairman’s Award: In 2008, PLS received this award, which honors one nonprofit from a seventeen-county region of WNC for overall excellence and innovative and viable programs.
Chief Justice Award from the N.C. Bar Association: The Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer Project, which PLS administers, has received this award three times, most recently in 2007, in recognition of volunteer lawyers’ exemplary service to PLS' low-income clients.
